Huge concern for grassroots sport across the country as volunteers become increasingly rare.  

A Wellington football club's desperately seeking around 40 volunteer coaches, just weeks out from the start of the season. 

The Amateur Sports Association reports volunteers have been sharply declining since the pandemic, putting financial pressure on both clubs and participants. 

Chair Gordon Noble-Campbell emphasized to Piney that community sport is a community responsibility. 

“It’s actually up to all of us, and we don’t have to do a huge amount. Actually, doing a little bit to help out can make a big difference.”
