Dawn Raids: From petition to apology

Today the government delivered a formal apology over the dawn raids.

The dawn raids saw armed police and dog squads burst into the homes of pacific peoples in the early hours of the morning - now regarded as hugely traumatic experiences.

The theory behind it was many Pasifika people were suspected of overstaying their visas.

Co-creator of this petition Josiah Tualamali'I talked to the Weekend Collective about what inspired them to start the petition.
