Aucklanders seem to be complying with the Alert level 3 travel restrictions.
Nine police checkpoints have been operating since midday yesterday, stopping people from leaving or entering without an essential reason.
Police say they're taking a firm approach, turning away anyone who's travelling to visit friends, family or going for a scenic drive.
By late yesterday, about 40 vehicles had been turned around.
