The election of Donald Trump to the US presidency in 2016 threw a major spanner in the works for Canadian novelist William Gibson.
He has been described as possibly the most influential living sci-fi author. He created the term ‘cyberspace’ and wrote about reality TV well before Survivor and The Bachelor graced our TV screens.
His new book Agency is one he was writing four years ago and was a third of a way through before Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton to become US President.
Gibson joined Andrew Dickens to discuss how the alternate universe nature of Trump’s win nearly ended the book – and then inspired him to create something else. Â
