A New Zealander stuck in India says he's desperate to return home.
The country is facing a record outbreak of Covid-19, and has topped 400,000 cases of Covid-19 for the first time.
Uppkar Kashyap flew to India on the first of April for his father's funeral, but is now struggling to get home as there are limited commercial options to get back to New Zealand.Â
Kashyap told Francesca Rudkin he didn't go the country for frivolous reasons.
"I did not come here for a fun holiday or for a tourist. I had to come here for my father, doing all the last rituals for the funeral, to support my mum."
He says he doesn't leave the house due to fear.
"We are just in the house. I always stay in my room. I don't want to go out because the situation is really bad."
