When it comes to films, the superstar actors and directors tend to get the spotlight. But so many important people are involved, behind the scenes.

One of those crucial people is casting director Liz Mullane.

She is Peter Jackson’s primary New Zealand casting director – working on Heavenly Creatures, King Kong and his Middle Earth saga – as well as casting for dozens of locally filmed movies and TV shows, including The Chronicles of Narnia, Ghost in the Shell and Pete’s Dragon.

In recognition of her career, Mullane has just been added as a new member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences - the group that votes on the Oscars.

She joined Francesca Rudkin to discuss highlights from her career, including the acting discovery she is most proud of, working alongside Peter Jackson, and her experiences in the audition room with Francesca!
