Strange Sally Diamond by Liz Nugent 

An Irish writer - I first came across her with the book Lying in Wait several years ago. This is about Sally Diamond who is definitely strange - which is as a result of something which happened to her when she was a child - so you know immediately this is dark. She takes everything very literally - when her father tells her to put him out with the rubbish when he dies, she does, and can’t then understand why she gets into trouble for it. Then messages start arriving from a stranger who seems to know more about her past than she does herself. A terrific thriller set between Ireland and New Zealand (mostly Rotorua) 

Unscripted by James B. Stewart and Rachel Abrams. I think you know about this one - Sumner Redstone’s Paramount empire which includes CBS, Viacom and Simon Publishing. In his dotage he completely lost the plot, took up weird and highly inappropriate relationships with various women, and was in danger of Les Moonves - the CEO of CBS - running a coup, until he got taken out by #MeToo allegations. It’s a great insight into unbridled egos, the toxic culture of Hollywood and a big media agglomeration, and the possibility for carnage.
