You’re not alone if you have turned to Dr Google for medical advice or self-diagnosis, but how reliable is the information you are accessing?  How can you tell what is fact and what is fiction?

Visiting Stanford University Professor Dr Ed Mariano is standing up for science and evidence based treatments – calling on doctors to up their social media game in an effort to drown out misinformation from the anti-science community.

Dr Marianao, is in Queenstown his weekend for an Anaesthesia Conference, says doctors have a moral need to stand up and stop mis-information spreading online.

He joined Andrew Dickens to discuss the role social media plays in medicine, the concerning influence of the anti-science community, and what doctors can do to combat it.
