Warriors coach Nathan Brown's revealed just how close his side came to losing their skipper prior to the NRL defeat to the Storm.

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck fractured his finger in the warm-up, with prop Kane Evans describing it as a blood-bath after the bone pierced the skin.

Brown's explained the running-repairs that were needed to ensure they didn't have another late withdrawal.

"He got himself needled up and strapped up and played. He's on the mend now, so it was an interesting warm up that one.

"When things are going a little bit sideways, they go sideways, but when they go well, they certainly go well."

Brown's moved Tuivasa-Sheck from the wing to fullback for Sunday's match against the Cowboys, with Reece Walsh shifting to five-eighth.
