Expert: Determining the worth of 'influencers' hard to measure

The Government is fond of them, but are social media influences worth it? 

Figures show that $8 million was spent by Government departments and agencies to advertise with social media influencers according to TVNZ. 

Former Bachelor stars, actors like Kimberley Crossman and Julian Dennison, and comedians like the 'How to Dad' were amongst those who were paid for their social media influence. 

Associate Professor of Marketing at Canterbury University Ekant Veer told Simon and Phil while influencers can be worth the money, measuring the return on investment is never easy.
