Former Air NZ CEO turned National Party candidate Christopher Luxon says he's moved into politics as he wants to work towards "a country we all deserve".
Luxon stood down as the head of our national air carrier in order to try his hands at politics. This September, he'll be hoping to replace Jami-Lee Ross as the MP for Botany.Â
It means that Luxon is under the public spotlight in a very different light. He told Simon Barnett and Phil Gifford that it has taken some adjusting.Â
"Half the country doesn't like you before they've even had a chance to meet you, and it can seem grossly unfair, but it is the reality of it."

Luxon says his main priority is to set up the country for the next 30 years, and isn't focused on what people write in the comments section.Â
"I don't expect everybody to like me or being fully supportive all the time, but obviously I'll do the best I can."Â
