If you're a bit sick of wall-to-wall election coverage, screentime guru Tara Ward has some picks for your weekend.

For Life: a legal drama series loosely based on the true story of Isaac Wright Jr, a Black American imprisoned for a crime he did not commit and who while incarcerated became an attorney and helped to overturn the wrongful convictions of twenty of his fellow inmates, before finally proving his own innocence (TVNZ OnDemand, from 19 October).

The Haunting of Bly Manor: an American supernatural horror series, loosely based on Henry James's 1898 novella The Turn of the Screw. After an au pair’s tragic death, Henry hires a young American nanny to care for his orphaned niece and nephew who reside at Bly Manor (Netflix).

Taskmaster NZ: Based on the popular UK game show of the same name, New Zealand comedians use creativity to complete unusual challenges (TVNZ OnDemand, from 21 October).
