I don’t need to wade through the detail, the Herald has that if you want the finer points. But yet another gargantuan scandal is unfolding once again involving the Government's greatest social crime, MIQ. 

The Herald's story specifically involves a couple trapped in Queensland. They're pensioners who left last year to see the grandkids and can't get home. As a result of being out of the country for an extended period they had their pensions cut off and are now homeless on a friend's couch. 

There is no date of return and they have just got the notice from the Government threatening a fine to claw back their pension. 

They, like all of these heart-breaking stories so far surrounding MIQ, are not alone. There are people all over the world that can't get home, have lost their pension, and all they have from the Government are threats. 

Is it possible, do you think, at some point, that someone in this Government might just have the wherewithal to say to their fellow fear mongers, "this is now out of control, we've lost the plot, we've lost the country, it no longer makes any sense, let's swallow our pride and pull the pin?" 

It's at the stage now I suspect where there isn't a New Zealander who doesn’t know someone in their circle or family that hasn’t been stiffed by this Government because of their MIQ obsession. As more and more have had Covid and isolated at home, the idea that vaccinated, negative tested New Zealanders not being able to come home seems increasingly absurd. 

No one else anywhere in the world outside of the North Koreas and Chinas are doing this. We are an outlier. It's become patently obvious the so-called pay off for this approach is we have fewer cases of Covid. The irony being they are coming anyway. 

We have done all we can. We are 90 plus percent jabbed, there is nothing left to do. We are merely delaying the inevitable. Another irony being that for a government so obsessed with their image, messaging, and polling, how they cannot see the damage they are doing to themselves is astonishing. 

How many of these people, whether pensioners, pregnant mums, or just grounded Kiwis all over the planet are ever going to vote for Labour ever again? Even if the hold outs still think they're doing the right thing, the evidence is now so sensationally overwhelming, that they're either blind, stupid, or both.
