Mike Hosking: The BS keeps on coming over Kiwibuild scam

Publish Date

Every Friday morning, Mike Hosking takes you through the big-ticket items of the week and lets you know what he makes of it all.

Here's a taste of what he reckons.

The Hockey New Zealand Review.

3/10.

"They’ve shot themselves in the foot this week.

The report is so heavily redacted you have no idea what the issues were, they’ve got their main sponsor ropeable, they’ve got the players furious given they don’t have any detail.

And they’ve got the rest of us wondering if they actually have a clue as to how to run anything, far less an elite sport."

Muffin Break boss.

7/10.

"Kids simply don’t knock on doors looking for internships anymore.

She's right, we are too entitled, we want it too easy.

We live in a world where the real hard work is put into making excuses."

Kiwibuild.

0/10.

"Just when you thought we had all the information, the BS keeps coming.

They knew in August it was shot and they'd loaded 20 percent of the building into the final two years. They never had any intention of actually getting to 100,000 houses. It’s a scam.

And that’s before you get to the poll showing 69 percent of us don’t believe the government on the promises. We were right to be suspicious."

Happy to Sit on Your Face Sunglasses.

8/10.

"A sunglasses shop with a sense of humour and an imagination.

It's only an issue if you have got a mucky mind."

Capital Gains Tax.

2/10.

"The week from hell for the government. The push back is on. They're pedalling furiously with the watering down, and still claiming they haven't made up their mind.

If you're against a CGT, you're closer to being on the winning side today, than you were this time last week."

Oscars.

7/10.

"Ratings up a bit for the first time in five years.

And it was worth the watch for Olivia Coleman's speech alone."

Stephen Kearney.

7/10.

"Signs on for three more years. He will be our longest serving coach.

Plus, we had a good win over Melbourne last week.

So, you know what, yes, this is our year!"
