US President Barack Obama has pledged to work with Republican lawmakers after their midterm election win. But he warns he'll act without them to protect his core agenda, starting with immigration reform.
But Obama's already indicated he'll use his veto powers on any bill that repeals his healthcare reform he insists has begun to work well for millions. Big mistake Barack.
It was a Republican rout in the mid-term elections in the US. The Republicans now control both the House and the crucial Senate.
This was a vote against Obama.
What is interesting is that a large number of Democrat candidates rejected having Obama come into their states to help with their campaigns. They didn't want him there. They believed that Obama would be a negative.
They might have been right. In the states where Obama did go and help campaign for the Democrat candidate, quite a few lost their seats.
Obama is pretty much a lame duck president. He promised so much but now even Democrats have deserted him. He needs to actually do deals and get things done.
Obama is so far from a Bill Clinton it’s not funny. Clinton did deals. Clinton was effective even when the Republicans controlled Congress like they do today.
If Obama wants to leave a positive legacy he's got to get going.
Obama's insistence that he will not move on his pet issues and use his power of veto will just cement his place in history as a 'lame duck President".Â
