A new report's highlighted how unconscious bias can influence a child's job aspirations.
The 'Drawing the Future' report collates pictures drawn by almost 8,000 primary and intermediate students of jobs they're interested in.
It reveals girls are one and a half times more likely than boys to aspire to a scientific career, and Maori children are the most likely to want to be sportspeople.
More than half of the children aimed for just nine jobs, including social media influencer and artist.
It's lead to questions about whether Kiwi kids are getting the right information about career paths in school.
But CV.co.nz Managing Director Tom O'Neil told Mike Hosking training and working in just one field is old-fashioned.
"Studies show people have three-plus careers in their life, and especially with the gig economy, it's really important to have an entrepreneurial mindset."
He says he's not too worried.
"At that age, we've all got our dreams, we've all got things to inspire us and so on, so I think in terms of an exercise, it's a fun exercise. It shows us what's top of mind for young people."
