The High Court has recommended inflation should be added to the 2.5 million dollar payout Mr Pora received after he was wrongly imprisoned for more than 20 years.
Justice Rebecca Ellis says Justice Minister Amy Adams made an error in interpreting the guidelines around compensation.
Private Investigator Tim McKinnel told Mike Hosking Teina Pora is finding life tough outside prison, despite their best efforts to shield him from the spotlight.
"He's not coping particularly well and that doesn't come as a surprise to us. The money's made a difference in terms of getting by day to day but its not really fixed the effect this has had on him."
