Millennials might have grown up with tech at their fingertips, but they're not walking the talk when it comes to cyber security.

Fresh research from Australia's found one in four young people are using the same password across multiple accounts.

Tim Falinski, senior director at Trend Micro Apac Consumer, told Mike Hosking that it’s not that surprising.

"People need to be far more cautious. I think people but it into the too-hard basket, or think 'it won't affect me'."

He says the research shows two-thirds of New Zealanders are far more concerned about their cyber security than they were just five years ago.

Falinski says that it’s not that surprising that people are at a loss, with phones now so powerful.

He says that people are as concerned by cyber security as physical security but are more focused on the latter.

“It can be as simple as downloading an app on your phone.”
