Margaret Thatcher's handbag is causing issues in the UK.

LISTEN ABOVE: Malcolm Stuart speaks to Mike Hosking

When she died three years ago, London mayor Boris Johnson started an appeal for 300,000 pounds for a three metre tall statue of her to be erected in Parliament Square.

However, UK correspondent Malcolm Stuart told Mike Hosking while the work has been commissioned, it's yet to be cast in bronze because Margaret Thatcher's daughter Carol is refusing to approve the design.

The reason? "Because it omits the formidable weapon always associated with Britain's only woman Prime Minister - her handbag" said Stuart.
