Some councils across the country fear they'll lose control of their water.
A major Government overhaul would see the transfer of responsibility for drinking, waste and storm water from our 67 councils, to four new government entities.
It's promising to save the country billions of dollars in the long run.
But Local Government New Zealand President Stuart Crosby says it has the potential to distance local government from the management of their water.
“That’s one of the key concerns about how councils could influence these big water entities to make sure their community needs are met moving forward.”
