Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison is pushing on with an electronic vaccine passport in a bid to break the shackles off domestic travel across the Tasman.
Morrison is due to draft a proposal to various Australian state premiers at national cabinet next week.
But there is a strong push back with premiers from New South Wales and Queensland expressing doubts about the passport.
Australian correspondent Steve Price told Mike Hosking: "They've [the premiers] been very keen on being in control of their own borders. That's the one thing that they've enjoyed very much about Covid - they've been able to slam shut a border at will."
Price says much of the public will likely side with Morrison.
"[If] you're in say Queensland, and there's an outbreak and you find yourself stuck there, when you return to your home state you got to quarantine - you don't have to do it, you'll be able to just travel freely in-between states," he says.
"That's probably going to be a pre-cursor I would have thought to international travel as well."
