Calls for rapid antigen testing to be implemented in the aged care industry.

The tests are commonly used overseas and can be done at home and deliver a result in as little as 15 minutes.

Radius Residential Care will allow vaccinated and tested visitors into their Level 3 facilities next week, despite the Ministry of Health advising family and non-essential visitors they aren't allowed in aged residential care facilities.

Aged Care Association Chief Executive Simon Wallace told Mike Hosking, alongside vaccination, it would help visiting be managed safely.

“The Government’s not coming to the party on rapid antigen testing for the sector- It's only available to a very narrow set of big businesses.”
