A shambles of a weekend in Wellington is expected to leave ice hockey promoters hundreds of thousands of dollars out of pocket.
Thousands bought tickets to watch Team USA take on Team Canada at Westpac Stadium on Saturday.
But after being delayed and then postponed until yesterday because of equipment failure, the match was cancelled because of the wind.
Westpac Stadium chief executive Shane Harmon told Mike Hosking it was a disaster.
"I don't know what the costs are for the organisers but several hundred thousand dollars I would reckon and the sad thing about this is, this event was ultimately a fundraiser aimed at funding research and education into concussion."
