It could take months for a New Zealander behind bars in Cambodia to learn his fate.
Paul Brasch is one of 10 tourists charged with inappropriate dancing at a pool party near the famous Angkor Wat temple.
Cambodia Law Service president Sam Onn Kong told Mike Hosking the government wants to remind westerners of the country's strict moral code.

"It's not a serious crime but then it is Westerners, publicity is very wide."
The 32-year-old faces up to a year in prison if he's found guilty of breaking Cambodia's morality laws but Onn Kong says it could take six months to even reach that point.
"The investigative judge can find three or four months or half year for investigation and trial."
Brasch's lawyer says he should be expelled from the country, rather than jailed.
