The New Zealand Rugby Players' Association claims turning down Silver Lake's investment will not prevent them from involvement in the game.
The governing body's set to meet with the NZRPA and Forsyth Barr to discuss their alternative proposal to publicly float a stake in the commercial operations.
NZR believes Silver Lake's investment offers greater expertise in sports management and technology capability.
Players' association boss Rob Nichol welcomes the re-opening of dialogue over the deal.
"That's the way you receive these invitations. We will reciprocate in good faith, give it some consideration and get back to them later in the day or tomorrow."
He told Mike Hosking Silver Lake's management could still be used - without being a perpetual burden.
"You can tap into that capability wherever you choose to. You can still utilise IMG, owned effectively by Silver Lake, just like the Indian Cricket Board do, but they haven't given away 12.5 percent of their net revenue forever."
