A Christchurch primary school's decided not to participate in an inter-school rugby competition, due to safety concerns.
Waitakiri Primary School's concerned because of the lack of weight restrictions, as well as the variability of referee experience.
Board Chairman Ben Naylor told Mike Hosking there's been no negative reaction.
"When we sent that decision out to the school community we said if you have any questions come talk to us about it and the first thing I knew was we were getting contacted by the press so one has come talk to us."
Ben Naylor says most kids who played in previous years are involved in the club system anyway.Â
