A prominent restaurateur is welcoming the Government's move to mandate vaccines for restaurant workers.
Under the traffic light system, staff will have to be vaccinated at any business that requires vaccine certificates, including hospitality businesses, gyms and hairdressers.
It means about 40-percent of the workforce will have to be jabbed.
Celebrity chef Peter Gordon -- the owner of Auckland's Homeland Restaurant told Mike Hosking it takes the onus off businesses to navigate the legal minefield of mandates.
“We don’t want to be a business that is suddenly in the courts, fighting with an employee, because of an unclear mandate and I think this is really helpful for us.”
A four-week notice period will apply for anyone refusing a required jab.
