Internet memes under threat from EU law

Memes like Grumpy Cat and Pepe the Frog could soon be a thing of the past.

The EU's set to vote this month on a law which could see the banning of memes on the internet.

Campaigners argue the proposed copyright law would damage the sharing of parody content, which often are developed from other people's original content.

Gorilla Tech Chief Executive Paul Spain Told Mike Hosking they're just trying to control what's happening online.

"Trying to be fair to people that have created certain content, photographers and the like who, in a lot of cases, don't pay when their work gets used."

Spain says he can't see how it would work.
