National says the Government needs to rein in spending to avoid adding to the inflationary pressures facing the economy.
Finance Minister Grant Robertson is due to release his budget next Thursday.
New Stats NZ figures show the cost of living is continuing to rise - with food prices increasing more than six percent over the past 12 months.
National finance spokesperson Nicola Willis told Mike Hosking it’s not the time to spend up large in the Budget.
“He’s adding another six billion on and that’s all happening at a time when we’ve got the cost of living running the highest it has in 31 years, interest rates set to climb, Kiwis wages not keeping up.”
