A potential game-changer in the US Presidential election, as new emails linked to Hillary Clinton are investigated by the FBI.

The emails are allegedly linked to Anthony Weiner, the husband of one of Clinton's confidants, Huma Abedin.

FBI director, James Comey, has revealed the emails are unrelated to those looked at earlier this year.

US correspondent Nick Bryant told Mike Hosking it's unlikely the public will see the content of the emails until after the election.

"Very vague letter that he sent to Congress. Not much detail in it at all, didn't even confirm the link to Anthony Weiner and Huma Abedin," he said.

"We don't know what's in those emails, we don't know where they came from officially, but the FBI leaking like a sieve at the moment."
