There's a possibility the International Airfreight Capacity scheme will be further extended.

With passenger flights all but stopped the scheme allows critical freight and exports to continue to flow along key routes.

The Government's just renewed funding the scheme through to March - with a forecast spend of $196 million.

Transport Minister Michael Wood told Mike Yardley they're still assessing if it'll be needed beyond then.

He says the international outlook remains somewhat uncertain heading into 2022.

Wood says over the next month or two they'll be assessing what ongoing support is needed from March onwards.
