Those in the market for the delicacy that is truffles are in luck.
Truffle farm owners have been in full swing digging up the black gold as the season gets underway, and it's going so well that supply is expected to outstrip demand.
Te Puke Truffles co-owner Maureen Binns told Mike Hosking un unexpected discovery led them to be able to harvest earlier than usual.
“We would go through all of June and July, however we did start earlier… we discovered from mid-May we actually had ripe truffles.”
