Seven FIFA officials have been arrested in Zurich on corruption charges, just days before the election for presidency and New Zealand's hosting of the Under-20 World Cup.  The New York Times reports these charges relate to widespread corruption within the organisation spanning over the last two decades.  The vice-president is believed to be among those arrested, but it's been emphasized President Sepp Blatter is not one of those charged.
