A dangerous superbug has doctors worried about the resources available to avoid an outbreak.
Almost 50 cases of the CPE bacteria have been found in New Zealand, but an outbreak could be on the horizon as the bacteria produces an enzyme that deactivates valuable antibiotics.
Auckland University infectious diseases expert Mark Thomas told Mike Hosking we haven't been left with much to help fight it off.
"Almost nothing kills it off, and those antibiotics that do, are very old fashioned and are very toxic for humans."
