A National MP is getting behind the party's newest candidate.
Former Air New Zealand CEO Christopher Luxon has been chosen as National's Botany candidate, going up against Jami-Lee Ross in next year's election.
National MP Mark Mitchell told Mike Hosking Luxon's a very good addition to the party.
"As a party, if we can attract people like Chris Luxon, it just goes to show how strong we are and the quality of the organisation."
However, Labour MP Stuart Nash says Luxon shouldn't underestimate the incumbent Jami-Lee Ross.
"Jami is a case of a politician who actually works really hard for their local constituents, and with MMP these day, people give their candidate vote to the person who they want to be their MP."
