For the first time ever the NZX50 has topped 8000 points.
The main stock market index shows returns from stocks have been a standout, driven by dairy and tourism and the stable economic outlook.
And despite Winston Peters warning there's trouble coming, economic experts say the short term outlook is positive.
At Craig Investment Partners Mark Lister told Mike Hosking there's not a lot to suggest a recession in any of the major economies.
"The US is going pretty damn well, Europe's trucking along nicely, China's muddling it's way through. So the global outlook over the short term is certainly positive, longer term who knows."

Mr Lister said there'll inevitably be a correction, but that's what markets do.
"Whether it's house prices, whether it's share prices, commodities, hey all run through a cycle and have their ups and downs. Now that's not something to be afraid of, it's just part of the game."
