A market study into building supplies is being described as a waste of time.  

The Commerce Commission will look into whether we're paying too much for building supplies and whether there's enough competition in the market. 

It follows a study into the retail fuel market, and the current one into supermarkets. 

Latitude Homes Managing Director Marc Hunter told Mike Hosking no one is being ripped off here. 

“To be fair to the local manufacturers and everybody that’s getting panned out there at the moment, from steel to plasterboard to insulation. Those price increases we’ve had over the last 12 months have been minimal.”
