New uses are being found for our old plastic bags.
The Packaging Forum and new company Future Post have teamed up to turn our old plastic bags and bottles into fence posts for farmers.
Each post is made out of about 208 milk bottles or 1700 single use plastic bags and are better for the environment as well as reducing the amount of plastic sent to landfill.
Packaging Forum spokeswoman Lyn Mayes told Mike Hosking that they hope they will replace wooden posts, which farmers notoriously have issues with.
“I understand that the plastic posts will last around 50 years, and they don’t break.”
She says that it will be good value for the environment as a lot of the timber made for posts has to be treated.
Mayes says that they’ve made the first round of posts and are waiting for people to buy them.
