Adrian Dunbar has fast become a household name.

The Northern-Irish born actor plays the starring role of Ted Hastings in the hit UK Police drama Line of Duty.

The show's fifth season, which wrapped up in mid-2019, averaged just under 12.9 million viewers per episode.

Line of Duty is the most popular drama series on BBC in the multi-channel era and won a host of awards, including the Royal Television Society Award and Broadcasting Press Guild Award for Best Drama Series.

However it has stopped production for its sixth season due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mr Dunbar has been isolating in Highgate, North London, and told Mike Hosking the country has been taken by complete surprise, and was "a bit slow on the uptake".

Despite the shows success, Dunbar admits he did not think it was going to last long.

"Luckily it got recommissioned for the BBC for a second series, and about half way though season two people started to get really interested in it."
