A recruitment industry leader says there is still a lack of gender diversity in many jobs.
Figures from the last Census show 99.7 per cent of midwives are women and almost 90 percent of builders are men.
Randstand recruitment agency company director Katherine Swan says more diverse and inclusive work places lead to better profitability and staff wellness.
She told Mike Hosking job recruitment should be done on who's most suitable for the role, but there's barriers keeping people out of jobs.
"When people don't see other people like themselves in roles, it can be hard to know it's something they can do or even have access to."
