James Shaw says we're good at dealing with clear and present dangers like Covid-19, but not so good at dealing with climate change.
The Climate Change Minister is planning to attend the climate change summit, COP 26, in Glasgow at the end of the month.
Prince Charles wants all world leaders to attend, but Shaw will go if he can secure MIQ spaces, and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison isn't sure.
Shaw told Mike Hosking momentum's building towards a green economy but there's still plenty of fossil fuel use around the world.
"We're not very good at dealing with something that appears to be in the future, or it's distributed at an incremental. The problem is, once you actually feel the effects of climate change it's a little bit too late."
