An Australian woman has spoken about her parents' plan to end their own lives.
Melbourne scientists Peter and Pat Shaw has caused a stir after an article in The Age detailed their decision.
Their daughter Anny Shaw told Mike Hosking that her parents had planned it for at least 15 years, and they were always adamant that they never wanted to be at the mercy of the medicos, or go into palliative care.
Shaw says her parents regarded their plans as part of life. They didn't see it as anything dramatic and treated it with the Shaw brand of black humour.
