World's first electric air taxi service draws scepticism

There is scepticism over a move that would bring the world's first electric air taxi service to our shores.

Air New Zealand has signed a cooperative agreement with the New Zealand company Zephyr Airworks.

The airline says it wants to embrace new technologies and use the potential of cleaner energy solutions for travel.

But former Aviation New Zealand chief executive Irene King told Mike Hosking people have a fundamental problem with autonomous vehicles.

"I doubt that people's mindsets will change enough to be in the sky in an aircraft they can't control.
