A new survey have shown some surprising industries are the most attractive employers and sectors to work in.

The 2019 Randstad Employer Brand Research surveyed over 4000 people and it found that Air New Zealand was the most desired employer, followed by the Department of Conservation and Customs.

However, when it came to sectors, early education and tertiary education were number one and two for most attractive industries to get into. This is despite ongoing conflicts over workload and pay rises,

Randstad general manager Ian Scott told Mike Hosking that the research did not take into account the primary or secondary sectors, which are the ones having the most conflict

"The early and tertiary are really attractive for employees as they offer great work, life balance, they offer great opportunities to learn, and they tie into that sense of meaningful work that people are really craving these days."

As for Customs high ranking in the employers scales, Scott says that is because they have fantastic training opportunities and to grow your career.

He says that the brands and sectors on the list come from the top 150 employers by number of employees, and the information is all independently gathered.
