Many Auckland schools fear they won't have enough teachers in time for the start of next year.
More than half of the city's primary schools have been allocated fewer teachers for next year, despite increasing school rolls.
Auckland Primary Principals Association president Heath McNeil told Mike Hosking around 200 schools will be applying for staffing reviews but it's not clear how long they'll take to process.
He says unprecedented numbers of schools in Auckland are saying it's simply not going to be enough.
“If the formula isn't working, there needs to be a strategy to make sure it is, so principals can get on with recruiting teachers for next year.”
