The unconditional income is already being considered or implemented through pilots by a number of other countries.
Co-leader of the network promoting universal basic income, Professor Guy Standing told Mike Hosking it's a modest way of addressing the growing inequality all countries are facing.
Standing said the payments would have no high income wage cap, but would instead be addressed through taxes.Â
