A short consultation period won't stop gun lobbyists going to Parliament to have their say on gun reform.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced Military-style semi-automatics and assault rifles will be banned under stronger new gun laws.
The country's rules around guns have been in the spotlight since last Friday's mosque shootings in Christchurch, which killed 50 people.Â
Council of Licensed Firearms Owners spokesperson Nicole McKee says it's too soon to say whether they're on board with the reforms.
She told Mike Hosking it's important to go to Parliament because there's mixed feeling among lobbyists, and a lot of questions.
"For example what is a fair and reasonable buy-back programme? How is it going to be instigated? What is their definition of an assault rifle? What's happening with an investigation into administrative processes?"
