The Finance Minister isn't ruling out tax cuts going into election year.

It follows the release of the Tax Working Group's interim report showing it's considering two forms of Capital Gains Tax.

Grant Robertson told Mike Hosking he's not committing to anything today, considering it's an interim report.

"Our goal we said at the start was the creation of a better balance and system. That implies that you can shift in some areas down and up in others."

The Minister is also pleased with the latest GDP result, saying it is a good, solid one for the quarter.

Gross domestic product rose one percent in the three months to June.

Robertson says it's the best result in two years.

"That's something that I think shows a solid outlook in the economy and we want to build on that."
