The cancer care advocates spearheading a charity hospital in Southland will be mentored by Christchurch surgeon Dr Phil Bagshaw
Blair and Melissa Vining are holding a meeting for interested parties, supporters, and potential investors in Invercargill tonight.
Bagshaw, who previously started a charity hospital in Christchurch, told Mike Hosking it's not an easy thing to do, but not impossible.
He says Invercargill faces unique care issues and he thinks the couple will be able to tackle things like access to colonoscopies.
Bagshaw says a new hospital is needed because the Southern DHB isn't keeping up with the demand.
