Covid-19 modeller warns home isolation will come with more risk

A warning a home isolation model will come with more risk.

The Government says positive Covid-19 community cases will be quarantining in their own homes fairly soon, as rising cases will make it unsustainable to put them all in MIQ.

Auckland University modeller Dr Dion O'Neale says the risk is mitigated a bit if there's a large number of vaccinated people, but vaccination isn't an all or nothing thing.

“It doesn’t completely block infection risk and it doesn’t completely block transmission either, so there’s still going to be some chance of poor health outcomes and of further infections.”
